Division 4 ACFL
Caulry
0-5
St. Joesph’s 5-16
Our juniors suffered a heavy defeat at the hands on St. Joseph’s on Saturday afternoon last for their opening game of this year’s Division 4 ACFL campaign.
The visitors to the park had notched up four unanswered points before our lads got motoring on the 9th minute after a point from Ben Kenny. Liam Malynn’s free moments later halved the deficit. St. Joseph’s kicked the next two points of the game before Declan Donohoe was well blocked down up front. Caulry had to settle for a point in this instance, which Malynn dutifully tapped over the bar. The visitors had a late burst which saw them rattle in a hattrick of goals to lead at the break.
Our lads now had a mountainous task ahead of them in the second half. Malynn gave Caulry a promising start, adding a free. But that was as good as it got for our lads as our only other score of the game came from the boot of Adam Donoghue and it was sandwiched between high tallies for the men in green and yellow. Ultimately, St. Joseph’s played the better football of the hour and ran out comfortable winners.
Team & Scorers: Conor Hynes, Ciaran Allen, Sean O’Neill, Darren Hynds, Sylvester Coughlan, Will Buckley, Oisin Shortall, Alan Lynam, Rory Mullins, Paul Hogan, Adam Donoghue (0-1), Ben Kenny (0-1), Nicky Killane, Declan Donohoe, Liam Malynn (0-3, 3f)

Division 2 ACFL
Caulry
2-8
Milltownpass 4-19
Our seniors kicked off their Division 2 ACFL campaign on Sunday morning last when they made the journey to Milltownpass.
An early chance for Caulry went wide before the homeside got motoring with two points, one from play and one free. The ball was overturned in our forward-line and this set up another scoring chance for the men in black and white on the 6th minute. Milltownpass’ tally was risen to five points before our lads got going: Alan Malynn converting a free after eleven minutes had elapsed. Damien Dolan then put his name on the scoresheet, but it was the homeside who finished the half stronger as a number of unanswered scores left Caulry trailing 2-9 to 0-2 at the interval.
The Milltownpass forwards continued to impress early in the second half as they scored goals and points from all angles. However, the opposite was true as our lads struggled to find the posts with efforts from Oisin Shortall and Stephen Connolly going wide. Our lads got going a bit in the final quarter of the game. Two frees from Connolly cut back the deficit somewhat and the same man got lucky on the 49th minute with a goal. Luke Buckley added points either side of Milltownpass scores. Thomas Dunning then got a consolation goal just before the referee signalled for fulltime as ultimately, Milltownpass ran out worthy winners.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Olan Healy, Eoin Shortall, Sean Clinton, Neil Clinton, Eoghan Grennan, Sean Doyle, Sean Fox, Stephen Connolly (1-3, 2f), Ben Moran, Damien Dolan (0-2), Alan Malynn (0-1, 1f), Luke Buckley (0-2, 1f), Colin Murphy, Darren Browne
Subs: Harry Stuart Trainor for Sean Clinton, Oisin Shortall for Neil Clinton, Tiarnan O’Donovan for Alan Malynn, Thomas Dunning (1-0) for Colin Murphy, Sean Clinton for Sean Fox
