Boys U16 League Round 3
Caulry 2-7
Tubberclair 5-13
Our U16 boys were defeated when they hosted Tubberclair in the park on Monday evening last.
The sides exchanged early points (Cathal Casey opening our scoring account) before the visitors took charge and went ahead. The Caulry boys had their chances, but Tubberclair were relentless in their efforts as they built up a healthy leave before the interval. To credit our boys, they came out fighting in the second half. Points from Darragh Belton and Simeon O’Flaherty drew the deficit back somewhat. Evan Allen got on the end of a ball in by O’Flaherty to pocket our first goal of the game after forty-five minutes. Our lads took control of the final quarter of the game as they outscored Tubberclair by a goal. Points from Allen, Belton, Conor Padden and Casey were interspersed between Tubberclair scores. Cillian Moran registered our second goal on the 55th minute after taking advantage of a loose kickout, but ultimately, the visitors had done enough to get over the line.
Team: Devon Martin, Caelan O’Neill, Conor Padden, Jayden Martin, Shea Ledwith, Brian Moran, Robert O’Dowd, Senan Hatton, Darragh Belton, Daniel Casey, Simeon O’Flaherty, Sionnach Winters, Cathal Casey, Stephen O’Reilly, Harry Casey, Charlie Buckley, Zach Buckley, Cillian Moran, Evan Allen, Rory Hasson

Girls U16 League Round 3
Our U16 girls were defeated by a strong Garrycastle side in the park on Tuesday evening last.
The first half was a low scoring affair with both defences doing well. Emma Allen, Grace David and Molly Keating were just an example of impressive defensive performances, although credit must be give to all the girls who worked their socks off. Despite our tenacious defending, Garrycastle managed to grow a margin of three points by the interlude. The visitors came out fighting in their second half and built a lead they would not relinquish. Kate Corcoran, Kelly Lynam and Aoife McDermott managed to get their names on the scoresheet before the fulltime whistle as ultimately, Garrycastle ran out winners.

Division 4 ACFL Round 7
Caulry 0-9
Ballynacargy 1-10
Our second team suffered their first defeat at the hands of Ballynacargy when they made the journey to Moynihan Park on Wednesday evening last for their lastest Division 4 outing.
Roan Sweeney opened the scoring account with a fisted point after a minute of play. The home side matched our scores. Lee Corcoran was on target for Caulry on the 5th minute. The yellow and blue men took the lead after twelve minutes with a well taken goal. Ballynacargy added two more points then. A pointed-free by Corcoran reduce the gap somewhat before the interval.
Our lads brought themselves right back into the game as they closed the gap to two with a stream of points from David Gaynor, Will Buckley, Corcoran and Alan Fitzpatrick. However, the Bal boys broke our momentum on the 51st minute as they added a duo of points from play. The opposition held strong and offset any potential dangerous scores for us as Fitzpatrick tapped over a two-pointer to leave the scoreboard reading 0-9 to 1-10 at the fulltime whistle.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Rory Hatton, Jonny Buckley, Ciaran Gaynor, Alan Daly, Darren Hynds, Cody Parker, David Gaynor (0-1), Eoin Shortall, Daniel Lynam, Roan Sweeney (0-1), Will Buckley (0-1), Lee Corcoran (0-3, 2f), Alan Lynam, Aaron Murphy

Division 1 ACFL Round 7
Caulry 1-12
The Downs 1-22
Our seniors were defeated by The Downs when the sides battled it out for Round 7 of the Division 1 ACFL on Friday evening last.
Our lads started well with Shane Lawless and Tiarnán O’Donovan adding points early on. The home side got off the mark after eight minutes. Olan Healy kicked the next score of the before The Downs did similar up their end of the field. Roan Sweeney’s goal opportunity was knocked out for a ‘45’ on the 16th minute which Lawless dutifully converted. A duo of scores for The Downs made it all square as the final ten minutes of the first half approached. A converted-free by Adam Donoghue momentarily edged our lads in front again. But this was short-lived as a quick scoring blitz by the opposition saw them build an eleven point lead at the break.
Despite having an uphill battle on their hands in the second half, our lads restarted the game well as Sean Murphy got on the end of a dropping ball in by Luke Buckley and finished to the back of the net. The Downs drew back two of these with consecutive points from play. Points from Murphy and Kevin Maguire preceded another score for The Downs. The game continued on this tit-for-tat basis for a short duration then during which Oisín Shortall and O’Donovan (two from play) were on target. The home side pulled away in the later stages of the game with a couple of unanswered points. Murphy rounded off the scoring when he raised our one and only orange flag of the game as ultimately, The Downs ran out comfortable winners.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Cormac Murphy, Sean Murphy (1-3, 1 2pt.), Glenn Carolan, Olan Healy (0-1), Kevin Maguire (0-1), Sean Clinton, Shane Lawless (0-2, 1 ‘45’), Harry Stuart Trainor, Oisín Shortall (0-1), Colin Murphy, Roan Sweeney, Tiarnán O’Donovan (0-3), Sean Doyle, Adam Donoghue (0-1, 1f)
Subs: Luke Buckley for Sean Doyle, Rory Hatton for Glenn Carolan, Liam Malynn for Roan Sweeney

Division 7 ACFL Round 5
Caulry 1-9
Loughnavalley 0-18
Our third team just missed out on a qualifying spot when they came up short against Loughnavalley on Sunday morning last.
Daniel Lynam opened the scoring account after nice combined teamwork from Ciaran Gaynor and Lee Corcoran. The home side got off the mark on the 7th minute to level proceedings. Our lads went ahead then when a fumbled up front between the opposition’s keeper and Nicky Killane saw the ball roll into the back of the net. A duo of points brought the gap back to one. Liam Malynn momentarily reinstated our three-point advantage with a converted-free. However, the opposition weren’t long about closing the gap once again with a duo of back to back points. Despite the best efforts of our defence, (Eoin Shortall and Gaynor putting in tough shifts) the homeside managed to gain the advantage before the break with a pair of two-pointers.
Loughnavalley raised their third orange flag straight after the restart. Rory Mullins got our first score of the second half after combing nicely with Eoin Fox. The sides shared four scores between the 35th and 39th minutes: Malynn, a free and Corcoran, from play, were on target for us. Loughnavalley found scores easier to come by as they added four consecutive points to widen the gap once again. Our lads saw out the last ten minutes of the game with Corcoran and Darren Hynds adding points from play as ultimately, it was Loughnavalley who came out on top.
This result brings an end to our Division 7 ACFL campaign with our lads narrowly missing out on a final spot. Hard luck to the lads and their management team of Will Buckley and Robbie Ryan.
Panel & Scorers: Fionn O’Donovan, Ciaran Allen, Eoin Shortall, Dylan Lowry, David Gaynor, Ernie Buckley, Ciaran Gaynor, Neil Clinton, Rory Mullins (0-1), Cian Malone, Alan Daly, Daniel Lynam (0-1), Liam Malynn (0-2, 1f, 1 2pt.), Lee Corcoran (0-3, Nicky Killane (1-0), Cillian Nagle, Darren Hynds (0-1), Adam Mullins, James Daly, Eoin Fox, Eddie Daly, Liam Doyle

Boys Minor League Round 3
Caulry 3-12
Athlone 2-8
Our minor boys played a good hour of football in the park on Sunday evening last when they hosted Athlone.
John Paul got Caulry off the mark in style when he sent in a high ball which dropped into the back of the Athlone net. Our boys built on this lead then with a point from Rhys Mason. Athlone kicked consecutive points then to reduce the gap. Fionn Murphy made advances forward and was fouled to enable Darragh Martin to tap over a routine free. Points from Aaron Buckley and Mason extended our lead to five as the Caulry defence worked hard, forcing Athlone wides. A trading of late points (Ciaran Dunning added a fabulous point for our boys) saw Caulry retreat to the dressing rooms at halftime with a 1-5 to 0-3 lead.
Our boys were slow to start in the second half with the opposition owning most of the possession. Thankfully due to tenacious defending by our boys, the Athlone side struggled to registered scores and they had to settle for a single point during this passage. Darragh Belton got our opening score of the half on the 40th minute and this seemed to inspire our lads somewhat as two minutes later, Martin fired home a goal (John McDermott and Fionn Murphy doing well out the field to set up this score). The teams shared a tally of eight points then (Buckley, Martin, Gavin McSharry and Belton on target for us). Athlone made a dent in our lead on the 55th minute when they broke down the field from a kickout and rattled the back of the net. However, a converted free from Buckley steadied our ship before John Paul booted home our hattrick. A late Athlone goal proved ineffective as our lads eased over the finish line.
We were delighted to welcome Ciaran Dunning back as he played his first game since picking up a serious injury earlier in the season.
Team & Scorers: Sam Hatton, Tom Madden, Tristan Dolan, Marcus Grant, Gavin Quilty, John McDermott, Fionn Murphy, John Paul (2-0), Gavin McSharry (0-1), Ciaran Dunning (0-1), Rhys Mason (0-2), Darragh Martin (1-2, 1f), Ryan Doyle, Aaron Buckley (0-4, 2f), Luke Quilty
