Maryland/Tang 4-5
Caulry and Maryland/Tang served up an entertaining hour of football when the sides met in the park for Round 5 of the U16 championship on Monday evening last.
Our boys were helped into a healthy lead after a duo of points from Stephen O’Reilly and Brían Moran before O’Reilly pocketed a goal. Maryland/Tang got off the mark with a point from play after seven minutes. Cillian Moran scored our second goal of the game then after he rounded the keeper and booted the ball to the back of the net. The opposition kicked consecutive scores on the 25th and 27th minutes, totalling 1-1 to reduce the deficit. Brían Moran added his second point before the break to leave the narrowest of margins between the sides.
The sides shared five points in the opening minutes of the second half as Aengus Baker, Moran and Sionnach Winters accounted for our trio of scores. A Maryland/Tang goal on the 48th minute gave the visitors the narrow lead then. Our boys had chances to score but credit must be given to the opposition’s defence who held strong throughout. A late 1-1 for Maryland/Tang secured the win for the opposition on this occasion.
