Club AGM
The annual general meeting of our club was held in front of a good-sized crowd in our recently refurbished clubhouse on Friday evening last.
Outgoing chairman Richie Higgins welcomed everyone and began by extending sympathies to all families bereaved during the year. His address then followed. Richie stated that it was a busy year both on and off the field. He thanked all senior players & management teams, and underage players, parents & mentors for their commitment and time during the year. Richie also thanked the minor and ladies board respectively for their work. Richie congratulated all players, both adult and senior, involved with Westmeath teams, in particular highlighting the contributions of Tadgh, Tiarnán and Oisín to the All Ireland B Championship win. Richie extended gratitude to the Seamus Claffey for overseeing park maintenance and to the CE scheme workers. He spoke about the successful opening of our new development during the year and about the myriad of other renovations completed in our club within the last 12 months. He thanked Kevin Connaughton and his development committee for all their volunteerism. Richie furthered thanked Jody Malynn for his help with the recent Scór na nÓg, all who contribute and help with the lotto, all sponsors during the year and his fellow committee members. He concluded by saying how it has been an honour to chair the club over the last five years and wished everyone well for the future.
The secretary’s report then followed from outgoing secretary Keith Dolan. Keith provided a comprehensive run down of all adult games during the year. Keith reiterated many of the chair’s address, extending gratitude and congratulations to all for their work and achievements during the year. On a personal note, Keith thanked all committee members and persons he has worked with during his time as secretary and concluded by wishing everyone the best going forward.

The club extends thanks to all outgoing officers for their time and commitment during the year and wish all incoming officers the very best of luck.
The club extends its sincere thanks to outgoing club secretary Keith Dolan for his outstanding work and contribution to our club during his time serving as a club officer. Keith started as secretary in 2016 and gave his all to the role for his 10 years in charge. Whether it was coordinating pitch bookings, sweet talking referees or dealing with the onslaught of correspondence, Keith always done so to a high standard and represented our club so well. As with any role within our club, it was done so on a voluntary basis and to dedicate a decade of his life to the club secretary role is no mean feat. We wish Keith the very best of luck in his retirement, although the door is always open should he wish to return! We wish Johnny the best of luck as he takes over from Keith (Rumour has it, he’s going for 11 years at the helm).
The club also wishes to thank outgoing chairman Richie Higgins who announced he is stepping down from his role after a very respectable 5 years in charge. To be the chair of any club is no easy task, but Richie took everything in his stride. During his time in charge, Richie oversaw a myriad club developments, both on and off the field. Most notably was Richie’s participation in the Lord of the Mount Fundraiser. When the club were in need of someone, Richie was first to put his hand up. Together with John G and Molly, this campaign raised over €130,000 for our club. The result of which can be seen standing between our two pitches today, our new dressing rooms and gym. We wish Richie the very best of luck as he steps away from club chair.
Unfortunately, no incoming chair was announced. Any members interested should make it known to an executive committee member.
