Boys U16 Championship Semi Final
Caulry 4-6
Tyrrellspass 9-8
Our U16 boys were defeated in the semi final stages of this year’s championship when they made the journey to Tyrrellspass on Monday evening last.
Our boys got off to the best of starts when Gavin McSharry opened with scoring with a point after 45 seconds before Rhys Mason and Darragh Belton both registered goals. The homeside drew one of these goals back before a point from Kevin O’Brien put four between the sides. Tyrrellspass added four points either side of Mason’s 12th minute point. Despite scores from Ryan Doyle and McSharry, the sides were tied by the 19th minute. It looked as though we might finish at the break in front when Mason converted a Caulry penalty but it wasn’t to be as the homeside levelled in the nick of time to leave it all square at the break.
Tyrrellspass came out as a different team in the second half as they blasted of 3-1 in quick succession to take the lead. The setting sun made it almost impossible for our boys to find the posts with McSharry’s effort on the 41st minute eventually proving successful. The homeside however, had their tails up now and found scores at their ease. Darragh Martin managed to sneak a goal in on the 57th minute but it proved to be too little too late as the homeside cruised on into the county final.
Team & Scorers: Sam Hatton, Conor Padden, Tom Madden, Marcus Grant, Cathal Casey, Luke Berry, Brian Moran, Gavin McSharry (1-2), Ewan Kelly, Kevin O’Brien (0-1), Rhys Mason (2-2), Darragh Belton (1-0), Simeon O’Flaherty, Darragh Martin (1-0), Ryan Doyle (0-1)
Subs: Evan Allen for Ryan Doyle

Girls U16 Championship Semi Final
Caulry 1-7
Garrycastle 4-4
Our U16 girls came up short against Garrycastle when the sides clashed in the semi final stages of this year’s championship on Wednesday evening last.
Garrycastle opened the scoring account with 1-1 in the starting ten minutes. Lily Ledwith got Caulry off the mark then. Ledwith made it two from two when she added her second after combining well with Erin O’Faolain. Eimear Allen put Caulry in front then on the 20th minute when she got a vital touch to a pass in by Daisy Bucks McLaughlin and registered the second goal of the game. A point from Kate Corcoran had Caulry in front by two at the break.
The sides exchanged early points in the second half with O’Faolain on target for us. Garrycastle drew level then at the end of the third quarter with a brace of points. Ledwith’s converted free momentarily put our girls in the lead. However, as the saying goes ‘goals win matches’ and this proved to be true as the opposition rattled off a trio of late goals to take the win despite the best efforts of our girls.
Team & Scorers: Grace Donohoe, Sophie Browne, Emma Allen, Sophie Padden, Grace David, Clodagh Shortall, Amelia Nally, Anna Walsh, Aoife McDermott, Daisy Bucys McLaughlin (0-1, 1f), Erin O’Faolain (0-2, 1f), Eimear Allen (1-0), Kate Corcoran (0-1), Lily Ledwith (0-3, 1f), Roisin Mulvihill
Subs: Kelly Lynam for Eimear Allen, Tara Collins for Emma Allen

Boys Minor Championship Semi Final
Caulry 2-8
Killucan 1-21
Our minor boys bowed out of this year’s championship when they travelled to Killucan last Friday evening to play the homeside under lights in the semi final stages of this year’s competition.
The homeside kicked off proceedings by tapping over two frees. Darragh Martin put Caulry in front when he rattled the back of the Killucan net on the 11th minute (Brian Doyle and Rory Hatton combining well under the kickout before Hatton gave off the pass to Martin). Sam Hatton was put under pressure then, but he brought off a marvellous save to deny the opposition. The game continued on a tit for tat basis momentarily as the sides shared 0-4 (Lee Corcoran converted a free before Hugo McGowan fisted over a point). Dean Martin injected a bit of excitement into the game when he booted over a two-pointer in the 24th minute. Doyle added the next two scores of the game; a point from play and a two point free. Just before the break, the homeside added a free of their own to see them trail 1-7 to 0-5.
The yellow bellies kicked a trio of wides straight after the restart. Our lads followed suit with a trio of missed chances, including Hatton’s goal chance which was well blocked down. The turning point of the game came between the 36th and 43rd minutes when Killucan kicked eight unanswered points which yielded 0-9 (during this period they completely dominated the middle section of the field despite the best efforts of our boys). Corcoran gave Caulry a fighting chance just at the start of the final quarter when he fired home a goal from way out to put the narrowest of margins between the sides. However, the homeside responded well with a point from the kickout. Corcoran added another point for Caulry but it was Deja vu as Killucan raced down the field and added another point of their own. The homeside took it up another gear in the closing minutes of the game, kicking scores from all over the field, securing their place in the county final.
Hard luck to our lads and their management team.

J2FC Quarter Final
Caulry 0-11
St. Paul’s 1-10
Our juniors were knocked out of this year’s J2FC in the quarter final stages when they battled it out against St. Paul’s on Sunday morning last.
Liam Malynn opened the scoring out from a two-point free after three minutes. St. Paul’s weren’t long about drawing level as they raised their own orange flag on the 6th minute. The opposition began to pull ahead then as they added an unanswered 1-3. Before the interval, Adam Donoghue and Darren Hynds both added to the scoreline to leave the opposition leading by six at the break.
St. Paul’s were first off the mark in the second half, adding a point from play. Caulry kicked three points on the trot then: Cormac Murphy and Malynn pointed from play before Malynn converted a free. St. Paul’s momentarily put a stop to our momentum when they converted a free on the 49th minute. Malynn tapped over frees either side of another St. Paul’s point but ultimately, the opposition had done enough to take the win and progress to the semi final.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Ciaran Gaynor, Johnny Buckley, Luke Hamilton, Cormac Murphy (0-1), Darren Hynds (0-1), Rory Mullins, Alan Lynam, David Gaynor, Alan Daly, Liam Malynn (0-8, 5f, 2 2pt.), Will Buckley, Nicky Killane, Aaron Murphy, Adam Donoghue (0-1)
Subs: Adam Mullins for Alan Lynam, Ciaran Allen for Nicky Killane

SFC Quarter Final
Caulry 0-15
Coralstown/Kinnegad 1-17
Our seniors suffered a similar fate later on Sunday evening when they made the journey to Cusack Park to battle it out against Coralstown/Kinnegad in this quarter final fixture.
Coralstown/Kinnegad had 0-3 on the board before our lads got off the mark; Conor McCormack doing so with a two-point free on the 8th minute. The opposition added two more points before extending their lead to seven when their no. 9 booted home a goal after an initial shot for a point came back off the upright. Our lads responded well when Damien Dolan booted over a two-point after Stephen Connolly fielded the kickout. Two points for the white and red outfit preceded a trio of Caulry scores; Shane Lawless added a point on the 20th minute before Senan Baker kicked two (one from a free and one from play). These scores brought an end to the half as the scoreboard read 1-8 to 0-7 as the sides retreated to the dressing rooms.
Both sides scuppered some scoring chances in the restarting minutes of the second half as 40 minutes had elapsed before the first score of the half was converted; this a free from Baker. Coralstown/Kinnegad kicked a trio of scores then as they lead by 1-12 to 0-8 at the end of the third quarter. Baker dragged Caulry right back into contention then when he accounted for the next three scores of the game; he slotted over a point before raising two orange flags (both frees) to leave Caulry trailing by just two. However, Coralstown/Kinnegad’s experience shone through as they were patient in attack as a 53rd minute point settled proceedings and stalled our momentum. Two further scores (one a two point free and a point from play) widened the gap again and gave the opposition some breathing space heading into the last few minutes of play. Our lads saw out the game with Connolly and Sean Murphy contributing late points as this defeat brings an end to the championship campaign. Despite the result, our lads return to Section A of the SFC for 2026. A massive thank you to the lads and their management team of Pat Flanagan, Joe Quinn, Philip Rainey and Kevin Connaughton for their commitment during the year.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Glenn Carolan, Sean Murphy (0-1), Sean Clinton, Damien Dolan (0-2, 1 2pt.), Kevin Maguire, Neil Clinton, Stephen Connolly (0-1), Tadgh Baker, Shane Lawless (0-1), Senan Baker (0-8, 4f, 2 2pt.), Oisín Shortall, Conor McCormack (0-2, 1f, 1 2pt.), Tiarnán O’Donovan, Luke Buckley
