J2FC Round 4
Caulry
5-8
Multyfarnham 0-13
Our juniors secured themselves a quarter-final spot when they overcame Multyfarnham on Monday last in Round 4 of the J2FC.
Our lads hit the ground running when Mark Fitzpatrick fired home a goal on the 2nd minute. Darren Browne followed this up with a point before Multyfarnham got off the mark at the other end of the field on the 4th minute. The opposition had another chance to score, but this trickled out wide and gave our lads the opportunity to build an attack. Ruiari Casey found Alan Lynam with the kickout and this move was finished with a point from Browne. Multyfarnham’s second score of them game then preceded a point from Adam Donoghue. The opposition drew two back on the 12th and 17th minutes. However, after Malynn’s three-pointer the gap between the sides was widened to five. Multyfarnham finished the first half’s scoring tally with two points to reduce the margins at the break.
In the same vein as the first half, our lads got off to a glorious start with Brendan McCormack causing hardship up front when he rattled off 1-1 in quick succession. Multyfarnham drew three points back by the 38th minute with a score from play and two converted-frees. The sides then shared four points, with Malynn and Browne on target for Caulry. The sides were evenly matched during patches of the second half as further points from McCormack and Malynn were cancelled out at the other end of the field. McCormack struck lucky once again on the 54th minute when he got the final touch to a ball in from Hugh Allen and sent it to the back of the Multyfarnham net. Fitzpatrick then kicked our fifth and final goal of the game to secure the win on a scoreline of 5-8 to 0-13.
