SFC and J2FC Round 2 Fixtures
Our seniors make the short journey to Moate on Saturday evening next to take on Tyrrellspass for their second game of this year’s championship. These sides last met in the quarter-final stages of last year’s championship when, after a tightly-contested affair, the men in blue and navy ran out winners with just four points to spare. Kick-off for this enticing clash is 5:15pm and having failed to get off the mark in our opening game, our lads will be hoping to right some wrongs and come out victorious on the evening. All supporters are asked to get behind the lads and tickets will be available from our social media during the week.
Our juniors also look forward to their Round 2 clash against Loughnavalley. This game takes place on Friday in Kilbeggan at 7:30pm. Our lads will be hoping to replicate last year’s meeting and come out on top on the evening.
The very best of luck to both teams and managements.

U19 Championship Round 1
Caulry
2-10
Tubberclair 1-9
Our U19s hit the ground running when they got a win over Tubberclair on Thursday evening last in their opening round of this year’s championship.
Our lads burst out of the tacks and had 2-1 racked up before Tubberclair got off the mark. Aaron Murphy kicked the opening point of the game before Tiarnán O’Donovan hit the back of the net after his shot for a point fell short to our advantage on the 3rd minute. Cormac Murphy then struck for goal a couple of minutes later after making a burst up the field from our defence. The homeside opened their scoring account on the 9th minute, which broke our momentum as they added two points from play. Tadgh Baker’s point preceded Tubberclair’s goal when they ran the length of the field and reduced the gap to three. The game continued on a tit-for-tat basis with O’Donovan’s and Murphy’s scores being cancelled out at the other end of the field. A late point from Oisín Shortall reinstated our four-point lead at the interval.
The sides were evenly-matched throughout the second half, sharing ten points during the 30 minutes. Five of these were kicked in each quarter. The homeside added a trio of points to our two prior to the 45th minute, with Paul Hogan and Shortall on target for Caulry. Murphy, Hogan and O’Donovan kicked three unanswered points to give our lads a six-point advantage heading into the last ten minutes of play. Credit must be given to our defence who put pressure on the Tubberclair attack, as they managed to sneak over just two points to ensure our lads ran out winners on the evening.
