Our U14 girls were defeated by St. Loman’s when they hosted the Mullingar side in the park on Thursday evening last.

St. Loman’s were quick to start with a point from play straight from the throw in. Our girls weren’t long about finding their feet though as points from Lexi Grady, Grace O’Rourke and Sophie May Collins put us ahead. O’Rourke pocketed the game’s first goal after seven minutes. Grace Hallissy then put her name on the scoresheet before the opposition kicked a trio of points. These scores were cancelled out in a matter of minutes as Farah Fox got our second goal of the game before a point from Cara Winters welcomed the halftime whistle. 

Our girls started the second half well with points from Winters and Grady. St. Loman’s made a marginal dent in our lead then when they registered their first goal of the game. O’Rourke, Collins and Grady all added further scores then as nobody would blame the supporters for thinking the game was put to bed. However, the St. Loman’s girls weren’t going down without as fight as a quick fire blitz of the unanswered goals left just two points between the sides by the start of the last quarter. O’Rourke managed to break the opposition’s momentum momentarily when she pointed on the 47th minute. However, another goal for the girls in blue and white made the game all square. Despite the best efforts of our girls, St. Loman’s managed to come away with the victory with a couple of unanswered late scores.
