Boys Minor Division 4 League Round 1
Caulry 7-13
Kilbeggan Shamrocks 1-1
Our minor boys proved too strong for Kilbeggan Shamrocks when they hosted the side in the park on Friday evening last for Round 1 of the league.
Rhys Mason opened the scoring account with a point from play after two minutes. Aaron Buckley registered the first goal of the game soon after before Darragh Martin and Luke Quilty tapped over points for Caulry. The opposition drew some of the deficit back after nine minutes with a well worked goal of their own. Points from Martin and Gavin McSharry preceded a duo of goals from Buckley and Darragh Belton. Two points from Buckley ensured our boys a comprehensive lead at the break.
Our lads took complete charge of the game in the second half. Strong displays from John Paul, Marcus Grant and John McDermott in defence helped to keep the opposition scoreless throughout. Buckley, McDermott, Belton and Tom Madden got their names on the scoresheet as our lads ran out comfortable winners.

Division 1 ACFL Round 4
Caulry 0-9
Garrycastle 1-9
Our seniors came up short against neighbours Garrycastle when the sides met under lights in Garrycastle on Friday evening last.
The homeside got the upper hand on Caulry from the offset as they rattled the back of the net inside then opening 50 seconds. This gave them a lead which they would not relinquish for the entirety of the game. Points from Oisín Shortall (a fisted effort) and Alan Malynn (a converted free) kept our lads in touching distance. The homeside kicked consecutive points on the 11th minute to reinstate their three-point advantage. Both sides scuppered chances throughout the second quarter of the game. Before the break, the teams shared four points (Tiarnán O’Donovan and Shortall on target for Caulry) as the early goal separated the sides on a scoreline of 1-4 to 0-4.
Our lads were first out of the tracks in the second half with Colin Murphy rounding off a patient move before finishing with a point. Malynn then converted a free to reduce the gap to one, but this was as close as we got before a trio of points for the men in green and red widened the gap once again. Our next score of the game came on the 54th minute when O’Donovan added his second. Two points for the homeside preceded a shot from Sean Murphy. Sean Clinton was last to add to the scoreline with a point on the 62nd minute as ultimately, that early fateful goal proved to be the difference between the sides at the full time whistle.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Sean Clinton (0-1), Eoin Shortall, Sean Murphy (0-1), Harry Stuart Trainor, Kevin Maguire, Dean Martin, Stephen Connolly, Tadgh Baker, Oisín Shortall (0-2), Colin Murphy (0-1), Damien Dolan, Tiarnán O’Donovan (0-2), Sean Doyle, Alan Malynn (0-2, 2f)

Division 7 ACFL Round 2
Caulry 1-11
Bunbrosna 1-8
Our third team had to dig deep to come away with a win when they played Bunbrosna in the park on a wet and windy Sunday morning last.
The sides were evenly matched throughout the first half. Lee Corcoran opened the scoring with a point from play after three minutes. The visitors went in front then when they converted two consecutive frees. The game continued on a tit-for-tat basis with Caulry’s scores being matched in similar fashion down the field. Neil Clinton (after a nice combined moved) and Corcoran (two pointed-frees) added to the scoreline to see Bunbrosna lead by one at the interval.
The sides exchanged early points after the restart (Corcoran added his fourth after a good run from Cormac Murphy). A duo of Caulry points reversed the scoreline then as Murphy (a fine finish after winning the ball at the middle of the field) and Corcoran (after an initial effort rebounded off the upright) took their scores well. However, just as our lads were finding some flow, Bunborsna hit back with 1-1 in quick succession to leave it all to play for in the final quarter. Helped with the breeze in the second half, our lads split the posts with more ease than the opposition as points from Clinton and Jonny Buckley kept the scoreboard ticking over. Corcoran got the equalising point then on the 52nd minute. Another point from the boot of Clinton momentarily nosed Caulry in front but the men in blue and white fought hard as the game was back level pegging with just four minutes remaining. Corcoran put the game to bed then when he pocketed a goal despite the offer of a point being the easier choice. This gave our lads a three-point lead as they ran down the clock to ensure their second win on the trot.
Panel & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Dylan Lowry, Ciaran Allen, Ciaran Gaynor, Ernie Buckley, Joe O’Hara, Jonny Buckley (0-1), Neil Clinton (0-3), Cian Malone, Lee Corcoran (1-6, 3f), Alan Lynam, Mark Fitzpatrick, Nicky Killane, Daniel Lynam, Alan Daly, Fionn O’Donovan, James Daly, Eddie Daly, Liam Doyle, Sylvester Coughlan, Patrick Kenny, Will Buckley, Cormac Murphy (0-1)
