Girls Minor Championship Round 5
Caulry 1-12
Goldsmiths 3-6
Our minor wrapped up the group-stages of this year’s championship with a draw against Goldsmiths in the park on Sunday morning last.
Goldsmiths got motoring with two pointed frees. Points from Karrissa Burns and Aoife Belton levelled the game. The opposition went ahead again then, but this was short-lived as further points from play from Burns and Anna Walsh put our girls in front. Before the interval, Erin O’Faolain booted over a flurry of scores to leave our girls in front by five.
Our girls started the second half well with Walsh finding the back of the net after five minutes. Grace Donohoe was put under pressure up the other end of the field then as she done well to keep out the first attempt. However, Goldsmiths were patient and snuck in a goal two minutes later. An unanswered 1-1 for the visitors had them trailing by the narrowest of margins with over twenty minutes of play left. Points from Tara Collins and Belton settled the Caulry nerve momentarily. However, Goldsmiths were building momentum and took the lead deep into injury time after they were awarded a penalty. Due to earlier stoppages, the referee allowed play to transpire as O’Faolain put just one between the sides. Our girls had one more chance as substitute Kelly Lynam booted over the levelling point. This result sees our girls finish top of the table and secure themselves a semifinal spot.
Team: Grace Donohoe, Siun Lyons, Aisling Murphy, Clodagh Shortall, Grace David, Sophie Padden, Grace Shortall, Ciara Nally, Eunice David, Aoife McDermott, Erin O’Faolain, Karrissa Burns, Anna Walsh, Aoife Belton, Tara Collins, Kate Corcoran, Kelly Lynam

Junior B Championship Round 3
Caulry 6-11
Maryland 2-9
Our Junior B team brought an end to this year’s football season with a comprehensive win over Maryland in the park on Sunday afternoon last.
Maryland were first off the mark with a point from play after one minute. Adam Donoghue drew this one back almost straight away. Two points from play for the opposition preceded a pointed-free by Liam Malynn. The men in blue and white added another, but the scoreline was soon turned on its head thanks to goals from Sean Murphy (after he chipped the keeper) and Thomas Dunning (combining nicely with Luke Buckley in a soccer-like style). At this stage in the game, our lads could do no wrong as points followed from Malynn, Murphy, Colin Murphy, Dunning and Aaron Murphy with Thomas, Malynn and Colin each also hitting the back of the Maryland net. The visitors weren’t  completely scoreless during this period as they did account for 1-1 to trail by 4-7 to 1-5 at the break.
Donoghue and Malynn added scores early in the second half. Maryland accounted for an unanswered 1-3 then. However, our lads were always in control of proceedings as further scores from Malynn, Murphy, Neil Clinton and Alan Daly ensured our lads the win. This brings an end to the season. Well done to the lads and their management.
