Girls Minor Championship Round 4
Caulry 4-8
Loughnavalley 0-9
Our minor girls hosted Loughnavalley in the park on Sunday afternoon last for Round 4 of this year’s championship.
Karrissa Burns got our girls off the mark when she booted in a goal after Amelia Nally showed well under the kickout. Euince David kicked our opening point of the game then. Two points for Loughnavalley preceded our second goal of the morning, this from Erin O’Faolain after her attempt at a free landed into the back of the net. O’Faolain converted points either side of a point for Loughanvalley. Lauren White put her name on the scoresheet just before the interval as our girls retreated to the sideline with a lead of six.
Loughnavalley, aided with the breeze in the second half, came right back into contention as they added five points to our two (from Burns after White’s goal was saved and O’Faolain after combining nicely with Burns). White gave Caulry some breathing space then on the 53rd minute when her attempt fell into the back of the next (Siún Lyons was instrumental in setting up this attack after a free run into space). Late scores from O’Faolain and White furthered the Caulry lead, but overall, it was a tight contest.
