Boys’ U14 Championship Round 1
Caulry 6-11
Miltownpass 3-3
The Caulry lads travelled to Milltownpass on Wednesday, 2nd of June last to take on the home team in the first round of the Championship.
Goalkeeper and captain for the game, Devon Martin was commanding around the goalmouth, catching numerous high balls and creating a platform for attacks, not to mention his great penalty save in the first half.
The fullback line of Dara Quilty, Charlie Buckley and Rory Hasson provided a rock solid defence in front of goal with tight marking and attacking the ball every time which was the foundation for every attack. Half backs Shea Ledwith and Joe Walsh had a busy evening supporting the fullback line and also making runs deep into the opposition half setting up numerous scoring opportunities.
The midfield duo of Robert O’Dowd and Senan Hatton worked tirelessly covering every blade of grass, winning numerous kick outs and assisting the backs and forwards throughout the game.
Half forwards Sean Maguire, Zach Buckley and Ruairi Corcoran were a constant thorn in the opposition side, with numerous turnover wins and attacking sprints resulting in great scores.
Full forwards Cillian Moran, Joe Carroll and Gavin Hennessy linked excellently with the Caulry attacks and provided the finishing touches to great moves with fantastic scores.
Caulry ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 6-11 to 3-03.

U20 Championship Round 1
Caulry 5-18
St. Loman’s 2-17
Our U20s has a comprehensive win over St. Loman’s in the park on Tuesday evening last when the sides met for Round 1 of this year’s championship.
St. Loman’s were first out of the tracks with a point inside 20 seconds. However, within minutes, Oisín Shortall gave Caulry the lead when he fired home a goal (Dean Burns setting up this move from the kickout). By the end of the opening ten minutes, the scoreboard read 1-4 to 0-5 as Brian Doyle, Lee Corcoran and Tiarnán O’Donovan all added points for us. Our lads hit a purple patch then with Doyle, Tadgh Baker and Corcoran all adding points before Baker registered our second goal of the game at the end of this first quarter. St. Loman’s managed to bring the gap back to three after a series of points, including two two-pointer frees. However, once again our strong lead was reinstated after a burst forward from John Paul who finished with a goal. Before the interval, the sides shared 2-2 (O’Donovan contributed a point while Burns got the goal) to leave the scoreboard reading 4-9 to 1-12 at the break.
The sides shared four points in the early stages of the second half with Baker kicking a fine two-pointer and Doyle adding another point to Caulry’s scoreline. Doyle and David Gaynor kicked points either side of a well-finished goal by Cian Malone. The opposition raised their second green flag at the end of this third quarter to bring the gap back to nine. However, this deficit proved to be too great for the opposition to overturn as a series of points from both sides brought an end to the game: Luke Nolan, Corcoran, Shortall and O’Donovan were the Caulry men on target to ensure we ran out comfortable winners on the evening.
Team & Scorers: Fionn O’Donovan, Dara Shortall, David Gaynor (0-1), Tristan Dolan, Dean Burns (1-0), Oisín Shortall (1-1), Brendan McCormack, Tadgh Baker (1-3, 1 2pt.), Tiarnán O’Donovan (0-3), Brian Doyle (0-4), Lee Corcoran (0-5, 2f), Luke Nolan (0-1), Cian Malone (1-0), Michael McSharry, John Paul (1-0)
