Junior B Championship Round 4
Caulry 3-20
Garrycastle 0-6
Our Junior B team returned to the field on Saturday afternoon last when they host Garrycastle for Round 4 of this year’s championship.
Caulry burst out of the tracks and had five points notched up before Garrycastle opened their account with a point from play on the 11th minute; our scores all coming from play from Liam Malynn, Luke Buckley and Shane Lawless. The men in red green and red tapped over their second from play, but Buckley dutifully followed this up with another well-taken score. Another Garrycastle point was cancelled out by a converted ‘45’ from Malynn. The opposition stuck with Caulry well at this point in the game, matching our every score. However, the tables turned back in our favour on the 21st minute after a nice move forward by Malynn enabled Brendan McCormack to pocket the first of our goals. Caulry went on to outscore the visitors 0-4 to 0-1 before the break, giving us a nice cushion at the interval.
The second half followed in much the game vein as the first with Caulry dominating throughout. McCormack was first to split the posts after five minutes. Garrycastle drew this back with a pointed-free. However, Caulry weren’t long about finding their stride with well-taken points from McCormack, Lawless, Buckley and Alan Lynam. Before the fulltime whistle, Caulry managed to fire home two goals as well; these from the boots of Lynam and Malynn as ultimately, Caulry were too strong for the opposition.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Glen Carolan, Sean Murphy, Sean O’Neill, Harry Stuart Trainor, Olan Healy (0-1), Oisín Shortall, Shane Lawless (0-3), Colin Murphy, Will Buckley, Mark Fitzpatrick, Brendan McCormack (1-2), Luke Buckley (0-6), Liam Malynn (1-6,1f, 2 ‘45’), Adam Donoghue
Subs: Alan Lynam (1-2) for Olan Healy
