Our seniors take on Tang on Sunday afternoon next for their penultimate round robin game of this year’s SFC. Having failed to pick up points in previous rounds, pressure is on our lads to get a result on evening. Cusack Park is the venue for this vital fixture and the sides will take to the field at 3:30pm. All eyes will be on the action to see who will come out on top as a result is needed for both sides if either is to escape the drop to Section B next year. All supporters are asked to get behind the lads for this important clash and we wish them and their management team the very best of luck.  

Caulry 2-11

Castledaly 0-8

Our juniors had a good win over Castledaly when they made the short journey to contest their second round of this year’s Junior B Championship on Saturday evening last.

Spectators had to wait until the 8th minute for the first score of the game; a long-range Castledaly point coming after a smattering of missed chances for both sides. Luke Buckley then opened Caulry’s scoring account two minutes later before Olan Healy’s effort put our lads in front when he finished off a move initiated by an intercept from Alan Daly outfield. The homeside accounted for the next two points of the game to overturn the scoreline. But Liam Malynn’s converted-free brought the sides back level once again on the 17th minute. Mark Fitzpatrick had a goal chance then but failed to raise the green flag. However, John Maguire showed well for the following kickout as he burst forward and finished with a point. A point from Castledaly’s no. 8 kept the scoreboard ticking over then, but it was Caulry who finished the better with points from Malynn (another free) and Alan Lynam (two well-taken efforts) giving our lads a three-point advantage at the break. 

The sides shared four points in the third quarter of the game with Malynn and Daly adding to Caulry’s tally. Shane Lawless injected a bit of excitement into the otherwise lacklustre half on the 46th minute when he combined with Healy and finished with a goal. Lawless furthered stretched our lead then with a fine point on the 52nd minute. The homeside drew one back then with a pointed-free. However, Caulry had found good rhythm as Sean Murphy fired home our second goal of the game on the 59th minute, this time Oisín Shortall was the instigator of the move. The sides exchanged late points to see Caulry take the win on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-8.
