Sympathies
It was with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of one of our club trustees Tom Seery recently. Tom was a lifelong supporter of our club and county, travelling near and far to show his support. Its often you’d hear Tom before you see him, but on the sideline for every game he’d be found cheering on the Caulry team. Tom’s love for our club could be accredited to his father, as he recounted in our club history book travelling on the bar of his father’s bike to Sunday games in the early 1950s. Tom’s first outing as a senior player was in a 1963 league semi-final when he was introduced as a substitute. This was just the being for Tom as he went on to be an integral part of our successful 1969 intermediate winning team. Tom will be fondly remembered for wearing the no. 6 jersey on his back as he put every oppositional forward line to the test throughout this championship. Tom’s last appearance for a Caulry first team was in a 1980 semi-final defeat, but he had more to give as he went on to win a Junior B championship in 1985 with our second team. After his playing career, Tom’s involvement continued as he served in various committees, including being club treasurer in the late 1970s and early 1980s, as well as being a staunch, dedicated Caulry supporter. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Seery family, Ballysallagh, Mount Temple at this time.
